This is primarily a daily deals aggregation project. Reference sites are yipit com, thedealmap com, dealgator com. You must have content aggregation experience and examples, preferrably daily deals aggregation but that is not a requirement. You must have a can do attitude and take pride in delivering polished applications. I will be very satisfied if I dont have to keep asking for obvious bug fixes. You should be able to work that out yourself. I am also looking for someone who can suggest improvements to my ideas.

The functionality of this project is a close clone to another website, which I will mention during the selection process. You will be provided with very good documentation. Everything I will be asking for is being done on various websites, and all requested components of the functionality will reference specific websites already doing it.

The inital stage of this project will include finalising the technical spec and selecting and negotiating the use of as much pre built functionality as possible. The project will be based on an open source stack and application framework. Framework selection will partly be selected to make your job easier, but utilising as much existing freeware software modules and add ons (than can be customed as needed) as possible. The easier you can show me that this project will be for you, the higher the chance of you getting the job. I will be asking a lot from you, but it will be a very interesting project and you will be working with an experienced digital producer (ie me). The goal is no less than to create the best daily deal aggregator currenty in existance.

Firstly you need to have a highly developed set of specific skills to make this project worth while for you.

These include:

– Extremely good communication skills
– demonstrated workflow methodology
– web scaping, rss, atom, xml, api (critical skill)
– Multiply affiliate marketing program signup
– Placement of ad server tags and google analytics
– Social features, such as facebook login, twitter etc
– Google translate API
– integrate pre built open source email system and modify
– google api, geo location, multi languages
– Content management systems CMS, application frameworks (Joomla, ruby on rails, drupal etc)
– SEO, social bookmarking, widget development, ipnone and android apps
– Q & A and bug tracking monitoring systems
– User management systems (part of the application framework obviously)
– indexing and web caching

Specifically in relation to the web scaping, you need be confident that you can source specific data multiply times per day from a vast number of sites, even when they are trying to block it – CAPTCHA, for example.

The content management system will need to allow a reasonable level of site control for business users.

Please PM me with examples and to express your interest in the job. There are many hours of work expected of you, but if you are good at what you do this will be a master piece when it is finished. All ongoing developed will be outsourced and you will be doing it, unless you give me reasons to choose someone else (poor quality Q&A, excessive bugs, poor communication, missed deadlines, etc).
