Im in the beginning stages of designing an ecommerce site (Ive done the requirements, some initial workflows, product attributes, etc.) and am looking for a solid UI designer to design the wireframes. My ideal resource will have worked on ecommerce design previously and can work well with any developer(s) I hire to ensure the design is both scalable and easily implementable.
It will be a site selling invitations/cards that will need to interface with a print shop on the back end to fulfill the orders. The printer Im speaking with is using Joomla for interfacing with the site, but not sure that matters for UI design. Im fairly certain my UI will require some Flash components, since the invitations will have user photos embedded which will need to be resized/rotated/etc. by the user.
UI, along with card customization (including photo requirements listed above), will also need to have functions such as browsing/filtering of designs available, a photo library per user, a wizard-like workflow for customizing cards and uploading photos to them, and other typical pages for ecommerce (E.g. my account, order status, home page, etc.).
My expertise is on the business analyst side, and I have some UI design experience, but I need someone specializes in UI design so that I can focus on the requirements and scope definition. My expectation is that whoever I work with will deliver at the end of our design iterations the following documents at minimum: screen inventory, screen flows, detailed wireframes, and basic design guide (e.g. fonts, button styles, etc.).
I need to see your portfolio/work examples and hear about your usual steps for working through requirements with your clients (e.g. do you document high level relationships and dig to smaller details or work in more agile manner?). Thanks!
